I just saw the news which mentioned about some teachers union wanting to ban Army career advisers coming into schools, they claim it glorifies war.
My father served for over 20 years in the Army and loved every minute, he saw many parts of the world and not in war time scenario’s either, they trained him to do different things, so much so that when he left the Army he then went to work for a company in Leeds then called CAPS (I think it’s now called Russell Mellon analytical Solutions) and spent 18 years in a very good job that looked after him. My father passed away in 2005, and the Army still look after my mother with an excellent pension.
Now one of the guys on TV said something along the lines of ‘Tell them they will be at war, tell them they will be on the front lines, they them they may die’, if some idiot joins the Army and doesn’t realise the risks involved then perhaps they would be more suited to the dole (That thing were they scrounge of the government and is now known as job seekers allowance, peh what a laugh). The responsibility of educating our young about war should be done in schools, History is a good subject for past wars, and I’m sure there is some subject suited to current day affairs.
Where would we be without our Royal Services like the Army, Navy, RAF, the answer is of course under some other regime, perhaps Hitler of some other historical figure maybe even Saddam, who knows?
The Army and other military departments don’t just go to war, they also have peacetime duties, they also employ a large number of British workers, so the question is not why should they go to schools, but why shouldn’t they?
No one forces a kid to join the Army, and if he joins for the wrong reasons then perhaps this is down to the education system to correctly educate kids the history of what being a soldier is and that he may mean giving his life for his country.

Ohh and another question, should we ban all careers advises from schools, they maybe making an impact on impressionable kids to do sod all with their life’s and scrounge of the government.
What’s country is crazy, stupid warnings on things, over sensitive people, political correctness not gone mad, but gone of the bloody rails.
Here’s whats coming next, and remember I predicted it first, lol:
Anti Pencil Sharpeners committee want to ban careers advisers promoting office jobs in fear of our impressionable kids cutting their fingers, they are also pushing for a ban on sharp pencil ends.
Oh one more thing, some EMO/CHAV (looked like an EMO, kinda spoke like a CHAV – yeh man init D head) kid was on TV and said something along the lines of “Yeh they only show’d us the good stuff, din’t speak about death or owt” – would that not of been a selling a point? (Joke of course – I have EMO friends)
Perhaps this was the way the media portrayed it, but it seemed silly to me.
